Retired NFL player, Conrad Dobler, was born on October 22, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois. He is a retired NFL offensive lineman.
Conrad Dobler was drafted out of the University of Wyoming in the 1972 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals. He would also play for the New Orleans Saints and the Buffalo Bills. Dobler was a member of the NFC's Pro Bowl roster in 1975, 1976, and 1977. Dobler is best known as arguably the dirtiest player in NFL history.
Conrad Dobler paid a high price for his NFL career. Today Dobler is 90% disabled having suffered through numerous operations to repair his battered body. Still in need of further surgeries Dobler, like many other disabled NFL veterans, has been unable to gain disability assistance from the NFL Players Union.
On April 5, 2007, The Buffalo News reported that as a result of falling out of a hammock in 2001 Dobler's wife Joy became a quadraplegic. Substantial medical bills for Joy's care have put the Dobler family in financial hardship, to the point they could no longer pay for their academically gifted daughter, Holli, to attend college. After champion golfer Phil Mickelson heard of the Dobler family situation on ESPN, Mickelson volunteered to pay for Holli's college education at Miami University in Ohio.
