He was working on a farm when a half-ton bale of hay crashed down on him, breaking his neck and leaving him a paraplegic.

While many others in his situation might have curled up in a corner, Randy chose to accept his changed situation and to use it simply as the starting point for what would be a new life. In that new life, through personal determination and hard work, he became the first Paralympian athlete ever inducted into the Olympic Hall of Fame.

Randy Snow is the only athlete in history to compete in three different summer Paralympic Games (London, Atlanta, Barcelona) in three different sports and win medals in each sport. Randy also won a silver medal in a 1500-meter exhibition race at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles and won ten US Open singles titles. Because of his achievements, he received the Paralympic torch from President Clinton in Washington, kicking off the Atlanta Paralympic Games in 1996. In 2004 he was the first Paralympian inducted into the Olympic Hall of Fame.
