Steve Bartkowski was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the first round of the 1975 draft and was the starting quarterback for the next 11 seasons.

He was the NFL’s highest rated quarterback for three years and earned All-Pro honors for his efforts in 1980 & 1986. He was also named NFC Most Valuable Player in 1980.

Bartkowski led the Falcons to their first-ever playoff game in 1978 and again in 1980 and 1982. He still holds many of the team’s all-time passing records.

Bartkowski played his last season in the NFL for the Los Angeles Rams before seven operations on his right knee forced him to retire in 1987.

Prior to his NFL career, Bartkowski played football and baseball at California, where he was named All-American in both sports.

Since retirement, Bartkowski has hosted the popular outdoor television series
“Backroad Adventures with Steve Bartkowski on TNN and the “Suzuki’s Great Outdoors with Steve Bartkowski” on ESPN. Bartkowski is also an accomplished golfer with a scratch handicap and competes on the Celebrity Players Golf Tour.

Bartkowski was born in Des Moines, Iowa in 1952.
