Olympic gold medalist, Tommy Moe, was born on February 17, 1970, in Missoula, Montana. Moe is a former alpine ski racer who resides in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Tommy Moe currently serves as an ambassador of skiing for the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
Tommy Moe was introduced to skiing on the slopes of Big Mountain, Montana. In 1986 he was named to the US Ski Team. Eight years later, at the age of 23, Moe won the Olympic Downhill in Lillehammer, Norway. This thrilling performance in Lillehammer in 1994 was one for the history books. Moe won Olympic gold in the downhill and then on his birthday, four days later, hewon silver in the super G. With this impressive feat, Moe cemented his place in history, becoming the first US alpine skier to win two medals in the same Olympics. Moe went on to defend his title in 1998 in Nagano, Japan and then retired from the U.S. Ski Team.
Moe retired from the World Cup tour and competitive ski racing in 1998, at age 28. He was inducted into the National Ski Hall of Fame five years later and is currently a co-owner of Tordrillo Mountain Lodge in the Alaska Range.
Tommy Moe is an avid outdoor enthusiast who is perfectly suited to the Tetons. In the summer months, Tommy enjoys whitewater kayaking, guiding skiing and fishing trips in Alaska, and mountain biking hundreds of miles of single track throughout the northwest.
In 2003 Moe married his girlfriend, fellow US Ski Team member Megan Gerety. They live in a house they built in Wilson, WY just 7 miles from the ski resort.
