Can Aaron Rodgers Break Brett Favre’s All Time NFL Records? (VIDEO)

Former Green Bay quarterback, Brett Favre, who appears to be back in favor with the Packers franchise,  has predicted that current Green Bay Packer’s quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, will break all of his NFL records. In an interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio on June 13, Favre spoke about his relationship with Rodgers, and told the interviewer he expects Rodgers, provided he remains healthy, to shatter all of his records with the exception of his consecutive games started streak that reached 298.

In July 2008, Favre retired after the 2007 season, but unretired himself in the offseason. However, the Packers already decided to move forward with Rodgers as their starting quarterback. It was then that Favre and the Packer’s organization had a falling out and the Packers eventually traded Favre to the New York Jets.

Favre told SiriusXM NFL Radio, “I understood that they had a young quarterback who had tremendous potential, that they had to find out what he could do. And, quite frankly, I had probably my best year in 16 years that past season, and there’s two ways to look at that. If you’re in the organization and you’re making decisions you got to feel like, ‘OK, he had a great year, but he’s probably maxed out.’ That’s kind of what I would have been thinking. Now, obviously my side of it is, ‘I think I still can play.’ The way it went down was not the best of ways, and I think people have learned from it, and, again, I’m over it.”

“Aaron has played extremely well, probably even better than anyone anticipated, but I knew he was capable of that and that’s why they drafted him,” Favre said. “Barring any injury he’ll shatter everything I ever did there except for maybe consecutive games.”

“His style of play, obviously, is a little bit different than mine. But I would try to offer him things that were not so much style as things I worked at, little nuances that I worked at. The way I played the game doesn’t mean you have to play it that way. I would say, I’m throwing quick here – this is a run play, but I’m throwing quick because the corner is off at outside leverage at eight yards. So I’m going to throw a quick slant. Well, you know, how do you get to that? Little things like that. Then from a leadership standpoint, always being accountable and things like that. Taking the blame. . . . You got to play the game the way you play it.”

Favre holds the NFL record for consecutive starts, with 297 over 19 seasons. He left the game after the 2010 season as the career leader in victories (186), yards passing (71,838), touchdown passes (508), attempts (10,169), completions (6,300) and interceptions (336).

Rodgers, who recently said he would like to play eight more years, has played 85 games over eight seasons, with 21,661 yards passing, 171 touchdown passes, 2,665 attempts, 1,752 completions and 46 interceptions.
