Michael Grimm, the winner of America’s Got Talent 2010, has signed with Epic Records.

In a press release, Epic Records announced the signing of recent America’s Got Talent winner Michael Grimm. The self-described “blue-eyed soul singer” impressed the judges and voters at home with his skillful guitar playing and smooth voice week after week as he covered soul classics like “You Don’t Know Me,” “Let’s Stay Together,” and “When a Man Loves a Woman.” Grimm’s signing follows the path of last season’s AGT winner, country singer Kevin Skinner, who released his debut album Long Ride last September
In a recent interview, Grimm told EW that he hoped winning America’s Got Talent would allow him to “cut the album [he's] been wanting to cut,” and give him the exposure and promotion necessary to perform beyond his Las Vegas home. “I know the genre, I know the route I want to go on this album, what it looks like, and smells like, and sounds like,” Grimm said. According to Epic, Grimm plans to release a solo album in March 2011.
After Grimm won the popular talent show, he was asked how he felt.
“Shocked, I was just shocked, there was no words, there was nothing… I was just blank. I was like did that just happen? Did this really just happen?” The 30-year-old singer said of his win. “It took me a moment, I had to make sure what was going on was real before I got excited, by any means, and I’m still in shock.”
He said his win over operatic child singing prodogy and runner-up Jackie Evancho, and other finalists Prince Poppycock and Fighting Gravity will change his life “forever.”
As for his $1 million prize, he told Access Hollywood that he’s planning on helping out his grandparents.
“I’m going to get my grandparents the best house ever in the world, I’m going to get them something that is functional for them, build it from the ground up for them,” he explained. “They are not physically able to do certain things and I’m gonna have that house set up for them.”
