NBA legend, Magic Johnson, is about to embark on a new venture, that of TV mogul. The former Laker star will have his own cable channel called Aspire and run his own network via Comcast.
Johnson said that the network plans to focus on positive, uplifting images of African Americans and will offer opportunities for black people who have struggled to find work in the entertainment industry.
“We understand the landscape, and we will run a sound business,” Johnson told the media.
“This is so exciting for me, I’m pinching myself. This is big for myself, for the African American community and the African American creative community. I wanted a vehicle to show positive images and to have stories written, produced and directed by African Americans for our community. Aspire — that’s how I’ve been leading my life.”
