DENVER, Colo. – Former Denver Broncos quarterback, John Elway, and his partners have bought long time auto dealer Mike Shaw’s flagship Chevrolet dealership in Denver, Colorado for an undisclosed amount. Mike Shaw had been named Time Magazine’s dealer of the year.
In an interview on Monday, July 16, Shaw said, “Like John Elway, I wanted to go out on top. It was time to sell, and his group has been looking to grow big-time.”
The Denver Post reports:
Elway said it had been his group’s plan from the beginning and it has “developed a fantastic relationship with Chevrolet.”
It is Elway’s third dealership with partners Mitch Pierce and Todd Maul, who got back into the car business in late 2010, first with a Chrysler dealership in Greeley, then the acquisition of the former Burt Chevrolet in Englewood last year. They employ more than 230 people with the addition of the new dealership.
Elway and his partners will lease the 7.5 acres that the dealership sits on since the property was not included in the purchase.
