Kris Allen shouted the famous words “I’m Going to Disney World!” immediately after being crowned the newest American Idol in the show’s star-studded season finale on May 20, 2009 in Los Angeles.

Disney camera crews captured Allen’s celebratory pronouncement on the Nokia Theatre stage mere moments after American Idol host Ryan Seacrest announced the champion’s name to millions of viewers watching worldwide.

Not only does the newly crowned Idol shout “I’m Going to Disney World!” at the spot’s conclusion, Allen’s voice also is featured throughout the ad as he performs the iconic song, “When You Wish Upon A Star.”

And with the same immediacy that has made the Disney spot one of the most beloved commercials of all-time, the newest “I’m Going to Disney World!” commercial aired on television within hours of the American Idol finale.

Starring in a role usually occupied by sports stars – including Super Bowl heroes and World Series champs – Allen is the second singer to ever star in the Disney commercial in its 20 plus-year history. (2008 American Idol champion, David Cook, was the first.)

The American Idol champion’s role in the newest “I’m Going to Disney World” commercial celebrates “The American Idol Experience,” the new American Idol-themed attraction that had a February 2009 grand opening Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Kris Allen and his wife Katy spent the day at Disney World in Orlando, where he arrived via motorcade down the park’s main street, Hollywood Boulevard. As he was cheered on by hundreds of fans, Kris performed “Heartless” for a crowd in front of the American Idol Experience attraction.

Adam Lambert appeared on the CBS Early Show Thursday May 29, 2009  and discussed his experience on American Idol. He was interviewed by Maggie Rodriguez, performed his signature song “Mad World” and asked why he thought he didn’t win.

After listening to his interview, I couldn’t help feel what a class act Adam is.

As miffed fans took to the web to voice their frustration, Adam came to Kris’s defense stating “he has a beautiful voice, he is a great musician, he’s a good person with a great heart so I think he really deserved it.”

Rodriquez said, “a lot of people thought you had it in the bag even the judges” and asked Lambert why he thought he didn’t take home the Idol crown. Lambert said he didn’t know, stating “It was down to two people and was going to be a very close race. Kris is a very talented guy and very deserving of the title … it just worked out that way.”

Rodriguez asked if he thought about changing to becoming more mainstream to perhaps reach more people he may have not struck a chord with, Adam said he didn’t plan to change.

“I like to stick to my guns,” he said.

Lambert said one of the best experiences on “Idol” was performing with the rock band Kiss.

“I had so much fun. They were really cool guys,” he said. “The minute they came down in their full makeup, it was on. I was like, ‘Alright, let’s party!”

Lambert hopes to make a new album he said will be “a little bit of everything”: glam, rock, pop, electro, and funk.

Lambert looks forward to this summer’s “American Idol” tour.

Adam Lambert is under contract with Idol and will be on The American Idol Tour beginning July 5 through September 15, 2009. Adam Lambert Kris Allen

Adam Lambert Kris Allen

Did Kris Allen win American Idol unfairly with help from AT&T? The story broke in the The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette last week, but gained steam this week when picked up by the New York Times. The Times wrote May 27:

Representatives of AT&T helped fans of Mr. Allen at the two Arkansas events by providing instructions on how to send 10 or more text messages at the press of a single button, known as power texts. Power texts have an exponentially greater effect on voting than do single text messages or calls to the show’s toll-free phone lines. The efforts appear to run afoul of “American Idol” voting rules in two ways. The show broadcasts an on-screen statement at the end of each episode warning that blocks of votes cast using “technical enhancements” that unfairly influence the outcome of voting can be thrown out.

And the show regularly states that text voting is open only to AT&T subscribers and is subject to normal rates.

Fox and “Idol” producers 19 Entertainment and FremantleMedia released a statement Wednesday saying Allen is indeed the winner:

“Fox and the producers of ‘American Idol’ are absolutely certain that the results of this competition are fair, accurate and verified. Kris Allen is, without a doubt, the American Idol. We have an independent third-party monitoring procedure in place to ensure the integrity of the voting process. In no way did any individuals unfairly influence the outcome of the competition.”

Also, AT&T released this statement:

“Last week, countless parties were held in homes, bars, and other public places across America to watch the ‘American Idol’ finale. In Arkansas, a few local AT&T employees were invited to attend two local watch parties organized by the community. Caught up in the enthusiasm of rooting for their hometown contestant, they brought a small number of demo phones with them and provided texting tutorials to those who were interested. Going forward, we will make sure our employees understand our sponsorship celebrates the competition, not individual contestants. That said, it’s quite a leap to suggest that a few individuals could have impacted the final results.”

Please people. This has been going on probably every Idol season since At &T allowed bulk texting. Fans have always found innovative ways to vote enmass for their favorites. The popular fan site KrisAllenNation has been publishing tutorials on how to vote for weeks. They were totally organized and played by the rules.

Adam Lambert is satisfied with the results and is ready to move on. I hope his fans can move on as well. Adam is a superstar and is loved by many including me. I will follow his career and look forward to what he prepares to do in the future. A rumored tour with Queen would be incredible. The opportunitys that lay before him will be many. Adam, the way you handled yourself throughtout the whole Idol process was amazing. You are a true professional and indeed a class act. We wish you continued success.

Apparently the rumor that 38 million votes were cast for Kris Allen from the state of Arkansas is not true and has been denied by AT &T.

An Arkansas television station has retracted its hard-to-believe Wednesday night report that the state — the home state of newly-crowned American Idol winner Kris Allen — had cast “about 38 million” of the home viewer votes that were cast after American Idol’s final performance show on Tuesday night.

“AT&T is denying that 38 million votes came in from Arkansas,” Fox’s KLRT-TV affiliate in Little Rock, Arkansas reported in an revised report late Thursday morning. “They are not sure where that number originated from.”

So where did all of those 100 million votes come from? According to Billy Bush, it was still not a close race.

I’m sure Arkansas still had miillions. How many exactly… let’s wait and see if we can get more accurate statistics.

kris allen wins American IdolLast night on the Nokia Stage in front of 7000 celebrities and fans, Kris Allen the shy, humble boy next door from Conway, AR, was crowned the winner of Americian Idol Season 8. With close to 100 million votes in, the fans made their choice. When the winner was announced, Kris was in shock! But so were the judges and Adam Lambert’s fans who were in the audience. They all expected Adam Lambert to win. After all, he did deserve it. After stellar perfomances week after week and with last night’s perfomances with “KISS and “Queen”, there is no denying that Adam Lamert is an International Superstar. WOW Adam, you could be the front man for Queen. I never thought anyone could ever replace Freddy Mercury, but you are the one that could. We would love to see that happen. You are the greatest artist and performer to ever grace the American Idol stage. You will have an extraordinary career.

Now let’s look at the statistics. The contest wasn’t even close. AT&T reports about 38 million American Idol votes came from Arkansas last night TV host, Billy Bush of Access Hollywood, tweeted: Source at the top says Votes were NOT close on idol. IE Kris blew out Adam Lambert.

On the KrisAllenNation website, Kris’s fans were well organized giving step by step instructions on how to get out the vote. They had a grass roots organization pledging to vote 1000-6000 times a night, using power texting strategies, and offering a step by step tutorial on how to power vote for Kris. It looks like it paid off. Maybe they can help out with the next presidential election.

KrisAllenNation states … “Kris’s victory is profound for a nearly endless list of reasons. From twenty-seven seconds of total airtime for the first two months of the show, to surviving an absurdly talented Group 2, to defying all odds and critical predictions week after week, you have won.  Your success has not been because of shallow fandom, producer manipulation, back-story, or gimmicks.  Instead, you have succeeded for who you are, a raw and amazingly beautiful person. Your love for music and for people has shone through the glow of our television sets each week, connecting with millions of people, in spite of what the powers that be had planned for you.  Thank you for your honesty, your compassion, AND your humility.  It’s been refreshing to reconnect with a normal guy, a good guy, who simply loves what he does.  We are so proud to have given you the opportunity to do what you love as long as you wish, and hopefully continue to change lives along the way. And to all the fans, who have bloody fingers and huge phone bills, thank you.  This site shows what people can achieve when they organize for something greater than themselves – it’s not about advertising, or profits, or hate for others.  This site has been about one thing, spreading Kris’s gift to all that wish to receive it.  You couldn’t have given your time and dedication to a more deserving person or family.  KrisAllenation, you are amazing.”

Congratulations to Kris Allen, the winner of American Idol Season 8! You deserved it!

Kris’s version of the winner’s song, “No Boundaries” will be released through iTunes, and a first peek from AOL music should be available today.

Tonight is being billed as American Idol’s Heavyweight Championship match (as Simon Cowell calls it The Big Ding Dong) and probably the greatest American Idol finale ever since the Reuben Studdard Clay Aiken matchup. This is the Super Bowl of singing contests. This is American Idol’s version of The Thrilla in Manila. I can tell you this much … the fans are organized. Why? Because we have two talented and distinctly different artists to ever grace the American Idol stage. OK so one is gay and one is Christian which is a subject that the media seems to want to stir up. What we want to know is will there be a knockout or will it be a split decision that can only be broken by the voting audience.

Adam LambertIn this corner we have Adam Lambert … affectionately known as Glambert because of his black nail polish, blue black hair, mascara and theatrical style. Whether one is a die hard Adam fan or not, it’s hard to deny that we look forward to seeing what Adam will do next. Tonight Adam will reprise his earlier version of “Mad World” (with a twist). Another song will be selected by Ken Warwick, the producer of American Idol and the coronation song called “No Boundaries” co written by judge Kara DioGuardi will also be performed. Adam never ceases to amaze us. No one can top him when it comes to vocals., but what will he bring to his performances tonight to lock in a win?

Kris AllenIn the other corner we have Kris Allen … the smooth, understated but powerful artist who has given us his own arrangements of songs such as Kanye West’s “Heartless” and his heartfelt version of the recent Academy Award winning song “Falling Slowly”. Will Kris reprise either one of these songs tonight or will he take this opportunity to suprise us with something new? A spoiler posted at http://mjsbigblog.com/ says that Kris will reprise “Aint No Sunshine”. Kris will also be given a song selection from Ken Warwick and will sing his own arrangement of the same coronation song given to Adam. Kris can’t compete with Adam when it comes to vocals, but neither could  Bob Dylan if he were competing against Adam Lambert.  What can Kris do tonight that will give him the winning edge? Can Kris can pull off another “Heartless” type performance to lock in a win?

Adam Lambert might very well be crowned the first gay American Idol. Even Foxes Bill O’Reilly The Factor is talking about it which we don’t mind, but come on Bill, did you have to show the Internet photos of Adam for sensational value? You’ve got the number one ratings on Cable already. A regular photo of both Adam and Kris would have been more appropriate.

Many believe that the Christian vote will play a large role in tonight’s victory along with the young pre teen and teenage girls who are among idols strongest voters. Kris Allen seems to have the edge on this one. These are the voters that helped crown past Idol winners Fantasia Barrino, Reuben Studdard and Carrie Underwood.

However, Adam Lambert possesses that Superstar quality that doesn’t come around that often in one’s lifetime. Adam has a huge fan base and seems to be ahead in the polls at http://votenumber1.com/voteamericanidol.html. VoteNumberOne claims to have predicted the winner of American Idol each season with 90% accuracy.

So who will be the winner of American Idol tonight? Who will the voting audience choose? I think right now it is too close to call.
