Update Dec.6th: Danyl Johnson is eliminated!
Danyl Johnson takes on Whitney Houston’s I Have Nothing on X Factor – Semi Finals week.
Judges comments:
Louis: “Danyl, the song is ‘I Have Nothing’, and I think you, Danyl Johnson, you have got everything. You totally deserve to be in the final because you have the talent and a vocal ability. You’re a born entertainer. You’ve had a lot of negative criticism on this show but I want people to judge you on your voice. And I would buy that version of that song if it was available.”
Dannii: “It was a really, really good performance. I didn’t love it as much as the first one.”
Cheryl: “Danyl, that’s actually the first time I’ve seen you physically shaking so I can see how much this means to you, and after that performance I wish you the best of luck to be in the final.”
Simon: “Danyl, I don’t think you’ve had fair criticism so far for what you’ve done in this competition, which is to sing your heart out, take on songs… we deliberately gave you a girl’s song so it would be more rebalanced, it’s one of the biggest Whitney songs of all time, and on the most important night of your life. I genuinely believe after everything you’ve done you absolutely, 100% deserve your place in the final.”

Judges comments:
Louis: “Well, Danyl, as Dannii said last week this is a singing contest and you’ve definitely got the voice. I believed in you all along, you’ve had a tough time in the press, but on the vocal it was amazing. I love everything about your voice. However, Simon, what’s with the screens, the polar bears, climate change? It distracted from Danyl’s voice. Danyl, you’ve got the voice, I love it, but I think Simon will do anything to get votes.”
Dannii: “Danyl, I love that song and it was a really good performance. You’re back to the energy you had originally when we first saw you. But I agree with Louis, I was confused when the polar bear came on screen.”
Cheryl: “It was like ‘Earth Song’. But about the performance, it was really good to see you up there and giving it some. You’ve been through a lot but still come out and give 110%. That’s what you need to do to get into the final, so good luck.”
Simon: “Danyl, that was absolutely incredible, that performance. Absolutely on the money, genuine, brilliant. Sorry, but it was. What is amazing, is that you’ve got the guy’s career in the balance here after doing a fantastic performance, and all you two can talk about is stupid polar bears. He didn’t choose the polar bears, they’re not distracting from him. It’s supposed to be a tribute to the song.”
Danyl Johnson sings Your Song by Elton John on The X Factor – Live Show 8 – Round 2
Judges comments:
Louis: “Danyl, what I like about you is you get criticism week after week but you always bounce back. You picked Elton’s most iconic song and made it your own – I liked everything about it except the choir. I don’t know why Simon gave you a choir, you don’t need a choir. With your voice and your looks you’ve got it all.”
Dannii: “That was a really great version of a really great song, and it was much, much better than the first song. Lots of good singing!”
Cheryl: “I think we’re seeing the Danyl we first fell in love with back at the audition process. You look more comfortable and you look more confident – it was good.”
Simon: “Cheryl, it wasn’t good, it was sensational. Sorry, that was what it’s all about. It’s doing something different with the song. And Louis, don’t be rude about having kids on the show. You’re like a dark cloud who blots out the sunshine. They’re little children who want to be on the show – let them!”
Danyl Johnson sings Relight My Fire by Take That on The X Factor – Live how 8 – Round 1
Judges comments:
Louis: “Danyl, what a great start to the show. You’ve proved you’re not just a one-trick pony. You can sing, you can dance, and Danyl, you deserve to be on that stage. I’m glad you’ve got your mojo back and I think you’re really talented. And round one, you won!”
Dannii: “That was an amazing production, an amazing performance, the choruses were bang on. The verses were pitchy for sure. And I’m not sure about the body rolls. The dance steps were great but I’m not sure about the body rolls!”
Cheryl: “It was as camp as Christmas but in a really fantastic way! I know how tough it is to sing and dance at the same time and you made it look pretty effortless, so well done Danyl.”
Simon: “Taking everything into account on the fact that it was an incredibly complicated routine and you were foot perfect and note perfect. I honestly think you really, really proved a point tonight that you are the type of artist who when anything is thrown at you, you just do it. You proved a point and I’m very, very happy with that performance.”
Danyl Johnson performs Careful Whisper during George Michael week on X Factor – Live Show 7. Some viewers fear that Danyl may be in danger this week.
Judges comments:
Louis: “There’s no doubt you can sing anything. I think you tried too hard on the song.”
Dannii: “Simon did right thing by choosing the original version for you – you sang it perfectly.”
Cheryl Cole: “To be honest, when you see that, parts of that were flat.”
Simon Cowell: “I think we were listening to two different songs there I genuinely do, because why that was so good, in my opinion, that is what I call respecting the song, taking it, listening to it doing something original with it.”

Danyl Johnson Sings Prince’s Purple Rain for movie week theme on Live Show 5 X Factor. Danyl cuts his hair donning a new look. Will this week’s performance keep him in the competition?
Judges comments:
Louis: “Very few people can do a Prince song justice. I loved the falsetto. Danyl, you deserve to be in the competition. ”
Dannii: “Love the new look.
Cheryl Cole: “You’ve lost the cocky attitude you began with. You’re not the broken man we’ve seen last week.”
Simon Cowell: “That was an outstanding vocal. I really, really mean this. I think this show has found a great, great singer who has got his confidence back up.”
Danyl Johnson takes on Aerosmith’s, I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing on X Factor Live Show 4. I think Danyl was beaten down from being in the bottom two last week. He starts out off key at the beginning, but brings it home at the end. He is still one of the best singers and performers in the competition.

Judges comments:
Dannii: It felt like you lost your Mojo. It didn’t feel as it was your natural performance.
Louis: I want people at home to give you a second chance.
Cheryl: You don’t do it for me.
Simon: You are undoubtedly the best vocalist in the competition.
