Round 1 of the 2011 NFL Draft picks are in. Auburn quarterback Cam Newton was selected as the first pick overall by the Carolina Panthers in the NFL football draft at Radio City Music Hall on Thursday, April 28, 2011, in New York.

St. John’s basketball coach, Steve Lavin, said in a statement today that he has prostate cancer. Lavin is 46 years old.
