Author: J.R. Martinez is an Iraq war hero who suffered life-threatening injures when his Humvee ran over a land mine in 2003. He survived with over 40% of his body covered in burns and spent the next 34 months at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) and underwent 33 surgeries.
