Oakland Athletics Dallas Braden Pitches Perfect Game – Video

OAKLAND, CA – Dallas Braden, the 26 year old left handed pitcher for The Oakland Athletics, pitched a perfect game beating the Tampa Bay Rays 4-0. Braden made this the 19th perfect game in MLB, making him the second person in less than a year to accomplish this feat.

After the game, Braden hugged his grandmother Peggy Lindsey, who raised him after his mother died of skin cancer eight years ago when he was a senior in high school. It was an emotional moment and a fitting Mother’s Day gift for Braden’s grandmother. When Lindsey met with reporters after the game, she said, “Stick it, A-Rod!”

Before this perfect game, Dallas Braden was best known for criticizing Alex Rodriquez last month for crossing the mound after a foul ball, which in baseball is considered a violation of etiquette. Rodriquez shook it off saying Braden only had a handful of wins.

When Rodriquez was confronted by reporters about Braden’s perfect game, he said “Good for him, he threw a perfect game. And even better, he beat the Rays.”

The A’s last no-hitter was by Dave Stewart on June 29, 1990, at Toronto.
