Peyton Manning: The $96M Man is Officially a Bronco with 5 Year Contract

ENGLEWOOD, CO – Peyton Manning is now officially a Denver Bronco making him the the highest paid player in an historical NFL deal worth a reported $96 million over 5 years.

Pat Bowlen, Peyton Manning and John Elway at press conference announcing Peyton Manning as Denver Bronco’s new quarterback, March 20, 2012.

The announcement was made by Broncos owner Pat Bowlen with Hall of Famer John Elway by Manning’s side at the Paul D. Bowlen Memorial Broncos Center in Englewood, Colo this morning.

“I believe that he’s got a lot of great football left in him,” Broncos executive and Hall of Fame QB John Elway said at a press conference Tuesday.

“This truly is a special football environment,” Manning told reporters, “and I’m glad to be a part of it.”

When Manning was asked about Tim Tebow, Peyton said he was unsure about Tim Tebow’s future, but if Tebow stays with the Broncos next year, “I’m going to be the best teammate I can be.”

Tim Tebow’s future, however, is now uncertain. Several teams including the Jacksonville Jaguars, Green Bay Packers, Miami Dolphins, and New York Jets have reportedly been in discussions with the Broncos.

Manning will officially wear the #18 which has significant meaning for the Broncos. The #18 once belonged to famed Broncos QB Frank Tripucka in the 1960s and retired with him. Manning said Frank personally asked him to resurrect his number just for Peyton Manning and the Broncos did just that.
