SUFFEN, N.Y. — Former NFL QB Boomer Esiason has been named the keynote speaker and will kick off the New Year with a tribute to sports and community at its inaugural Sports Dinner. The event honors Steven Beldock, a long-serving member of the JCC’s board of directors, and Stephanie Hausner, a Clarkstown town councilwoman. Two local high school seniors, Carly Fishkin and Sam Studnitzer, will receive the first Larry Weiss Sports Teen Leadership award, which includes a $1,000 State of Israel Bond. 12-Time Pro Bowler Champ Bailey Retires

Twelve time Pro Bowler  Champ Bailey has decided to retire from the NFL, putting an end to a long and illustrious career. The 36-year-old cornerback spent most of his 15-season career with the Denver Broncos, but after being released by the Broncos at the end of last season and being cut by the New Orleans Saints this season due to a foot injury, Bailey decided to move on to pursue other career opportunities. NFL Quarterback and BYU Graduate Jim McMahon Has #9 Jersey Retired by BYU

BYU graduate and NFL quarterback, Jim McMahon, became an official member of Brigham Young University’s Athletic Hall of Fame this week. McMahon’s jersey #9 was retired at the game on Oct. 3, 2014. McMahon is the sixth former BYU football player to have his number retired, following Eldon Fortie, Marion Probert, Steve Young, Gifford Nielsen and Ty Detmer.

Saints Head Coach Sean Payton Buys 100 Devon Still Bengals Jerseys for Pediatric Cancer

Earlier this week the Cincinnati Bengals announced that all proceeds of Devon Still’s jersey sales would go to the Cincinnati’s children hospital. They have raised a significant amount of money so far thanks in part to a classy move by New Orleans Saints coach, Sean Payton, who bought 100 Devon Still jerseys at $100 each after he heard Still’s story on the radio.

Penn States Adam Taliaferro Named Guest Speaker at Limerick United Way Drive

LIMERICK PA – Former Penn State cornerback, Adam Taliaferro who was paralyzed during a game and defied the odds to walk again, was named the featured speaker at the 2014 edition of Exelon Nuclear’s Limerick Generating Station’s annual United Way campaign on Friday Sept. 5. The event also featured an employee car and motorcycle show. During the event, the station also presented a $10,000 donation to Lower Pottsgrove Township’s Emergency Services Department, and a $5,000 donation to the Pottstown Senior Center.
