Butch Lumpkin Is An Inspiration to All

I just returned last week from an event in the Midwest that I provide athletes for each year. This year’s lineup included football Hall of Famer Tony Dorsett and baseball Hall of Famer Andre Dawson. And while both did a great job and received rave reviews, the person who stole the show was someone named Butch Lumpkin.

Lumpkin wasn’t a professional athlete and didn’t have the name recognition of Dorsett and Dawson, but he’s the one that left the biggest impression. You see, Lumpkin was born with virtually no arms, yet he’s a single-digit handicap golfer, plays tennis better than most and skis black diamonds. The word “can’t” isn’t in his vocabulary. ... The United States overcame a two-goal deficit to force a draw against Slovenia on Friday, but the Americans may have deserved to win outright. Shortly after tying the game in the 81st minute, the U.S. had a free kick near the Slovenian goal.

Lance Armstrong Upset Over ‘Outside’ Digitally Altered Magazine Cover (PHOTO)

Lance Armstrong isn’t too happy with an Outside Magazine cover that digitally altered his T-shirt to bear a profane slogan that reads “38. BFD.” The number refers to Armstrong’s age and the letters are an acronym for “big [expletive] deal”.

As the cover explains in small text, the garment is “not Armstrong’s real T-shirt,” and the cyclist is not very pleased. On Twitter, he wrote that the text was Photo shopped into the image and called the stunt “lame bullshit.” He also derided the altered photo as “weak.”

Armstrong has been on the cover of Outside Magazine eight times. After this, it may be his last.

The New York Times reports that a federal appeals court ruled on Friday that prosecutors will be barred from using positive drug tests and doping calendars in the perjury case of Barry Bonds, the major leagues’ career home run leader, significantly hurting the government’s case against him. The appeals court, in a 2-to-1 ruling, affirmed a lower court decision that said the government could not authenticate the evidence and directly tie it to Bonds without the testimony of his former trainer.
