Michael Strahan To Replace Regis Philbin as Co-Host on “Live” with Kelly Ripa

Former NFL star, Michael Strahan, has reportedly landed the coveted spot as co-host with Kelly Ripa on “Live”. Strahan, 40, will replace Regis Philbin who left the show last November. According to ABC, Strahan will join Kelly on the show, September 4, when Kelly will officially introduce him as the new co-host.

“Hey guys, big news,” she said. “It’s been an exciting season here at ‘Live,’ but the time has come to mark your calendars. On Sept. 4, I’ll be joined by my new co-host.”

Since Philbin’s departure, Ripa had tried out 59 guest hosts besides Strahan, including Seth Myers from SNL and Jerry Seinfeld. All were under consideration, but it was Strahan who won out in the end with his charm and personality. Both the audience and Kelly love him.

The former Giants defensive end will continue to host “Fox NFL Sunday”.
